WWF Cleaning up the Galápagos Islands

WWF charity officials have teamed up with Toyota to help create a new and improved waste management and recycling system on the Galápagos Islands. With more and more people visiting to the wondrous wildlife that roams freely on the island, increased waste could prove to be a critical threat to the animals and unique ecosystems of the Galápagos.

Having put new systems into place to ensure recyclables are separated and disposed of in an environmentally safe manner, the Galápagos islands should see an immediate impact through these changes. Check out the video below to see some of the wonders this truly magnificent island has to offer.

WWF is now coordinating a similar project for the Isabela Island, which will hopefully replicate the success of this recent project on Galápagos, which was recognised internationally at the Energy Globe Awards. Thanks to the work of WWF and their partners, the amazing wildlife of the Galápagos islands can stay as nature intended.
